What we use on your sauna — and why.
No mystery products. Every item in our sauna kit is either the manufacturer's own care product or a tool for verifying your equipment — the same standard we publish for our cold plunge water care.
Harvia & Sunlighten sauna cleaners
The manufacturers' own wood-safe detergents. Sauna wood is untreated and absorbs whatever touches it — household cleaners, bleach, ammonia, and abrasives (even citrus) damage cedar and hemlock and can void your warranty. We use the products the sauna makers themselves specify, applied to the cloth — never sprayed in the room, where overspray can damage heater elements and infrared emitters.
Harvia paraffin oil — bench treatment
The one wood treatment sauna manufacturers approve. A thin coat on benches and high-contact surfaces seals the grain against sweat and dirt without stopping the wood from breathing (paint and stain do — which is why we never use them). Finnish standard practice: once or twice a year at home, quarterly on commercial rooms.
Harvia sauna stones — replaced at cost
Heater stones crack and crumble with heat cycles. Degraded or too-tightly packed stones choke the heater's airflow — your sauna heats slower and burns more energy. We tap-test every stone, clear the debris from the heater well, re-stack loosely for airflow, and replace failed stones with proper olivine diabase — billed at our cost, no markup.
Infrared thermometer — emitter verification
The most common infrared sauna failure is a quietly dead emitter panel — the room still heats, just unevenly and slower, so most owners never notice. We verify every panel is actually firing on every visit, so a $0 inspection catch doesn't become an out-of-warranty repair later.
Fine-grit sanding — sweat stain removal
Sweat stains don't wash out of untreated wood — they're in the surface fibers. Light sanding with fine grit, always along the grain, lifts the stained layer and restores the wood without harming it. It's the manufacturer-recommended fix, and it's why our deep clean leaves benches looking new instead of just "wiped."
Photo documentation — every visit
Before-and-after photos of benches, stones, heater, and any issue we find — attached to a digital service report you keep. For commercial facilities, that's your hygiene and maintenance paper trail; for warranty units, it's the evidence trail the manufacturer wants.

Do you service infrared and traditional saunas?
Yes — infrared, traditional electric (heater + stones), wood-fired, and steam rooms. All brands: Sun Home, Clearlight, Sunlighten, Harvia, Finnleo, and custom-built rooms.
What do you clean sauna wood with?
Only manufacturer-approved, wood-safe sauna cleaners — never bleach, ammonia, abrasives, or household chemicals. Sauna wood is untreated by design; the wrong cleaner damages cedar and hemlock and can void your warranty. That's most of the reason to hire a sauna specialist instead of a general cleaner.
How often should a sauna be professionally serviced?
Home saunas: a deep clean with wood care 1–2× per year, with heater stones replaced roughly annually on traditional units. Commercial rooms: quarterly deep cleans with paraffin treatment on high-contact surfaces, plus monthly heater and electrical inspections — high traffic ages wood and stones much faster.
My sauna won't heat / a panel is dead — can you fix it?
Yes. Heater elements, infrared emitter panels, control boards, keypads, power supplies, and lighting. The $170 service call covers the trip and a full first hour of diagnosis, and you get a written estimate before we do any repair work.
