Pricing is per unit and depends on your location — we confirm the exact price before pickup. Tubs, pumps, filters, and packaging can ride along — quoted separately because they vary in size. Existing Cold Standard members: ask your tech to add it to your account and we'll schedule it.

Why this needs a specialist: a chiller holds refrigerant under pressure in a sealed system. Federal rules (EPA Section 608) require that refrigerant be recovered by a certified technician before the appliance is disposed of, and venting it is illegal. That's why bulk-trash programs and most junk haulers turn these away. We route every unit through refrigerant recovery, so you're covered — and so is the manufacturer who asked you to "just get rid of it."

Can I just put an old chiller out with the trash?

No. A cold plunge chiller is a sealed refrigeration appliance. Under EPA Section 608 the refrigerant has to be recovered by a certified technician before the unit is scrapped, and most municipal bulk pickups and general junk haulers refuse refrigerant-bearing equipment for that reason.

What does the price include?

Pickup from wherever the unit is staged (garage, side yard, curb), loading and transport, refrigerant-compliant recovery and recycling of the unit, and a completion photo sent to you. Flat per chiller — no weight fees, no fuel surcharges.

My manufacturer just replaced my chiller under warranty. Will they take the old one?

Usually not. Most manufacturers ship the replacement and leave the old unit with you. That's exactly what this service is for — request a pickup and we handle the rest.

Does the chiller need to be drained or disconnected first?

Disconnect the hoses and power and let it drain if you can — it makes the pickup quicker. If it's still plumbed in, tell us in the request and we'll plan for it (a Cold Standard tech can disconnect it as part of a service visit).

Where do you offer chiller disposal?

Do you take the tub too?

Yes — tubs, pumps, filters, and packaging can be added to the same pickup. Those are quoted separately since they vary in size; the chiller itself is $250–$400 depending on location.
