Cold Standard Certified Technician (CSCT) is the first comprehensive certification built for the people who service cold plunges — chillers, water chemistry, commercial compliance, and the brands that own this category. Join the network manufacturers refer to.
A cold plunge sits between three trades: pool/spa, refrigeration, and electrical. Pool techs apply pool chemistry to plunges and damage them. HVAC techs ignore water chemistry entirely. No existing credential covers the seam.
Owners of $5K–$30K plunges call the wrong people. Manufacturers watch their customer-experience scores drop after the 9-month service mark. Recovery clinics and gyms skip compliance because no one trained them.
Cold Standard built our service business on filling that gap. CSCT is how we scale the standard.
Cold-water sanitization kinetics are 3× slower at 50°F. CYA accumulates without UV breakdown. Pool playbooks don't transfer.
They know R410A. They don't know biofilm, ORP, or MAHC recordkeeping. Half the trade is missing.
CA §116040, NEC 680, VGBA, ADA. No one trains plunge techs on this. Inspectors find out the hard way.
Plunge, AquaVoss, Ora Wellness, Renu — when their customers need service, who do they refer? Until now, nobody.
Built for working technicians, master-level instructors, and the facility operators who own commercial plunges.
For gym, spa, recovery clinic, and hotel managers responsible for plunge oversight without performing service themselves.
The core certification. For working pool, HVAC, and service techs entering the cold plunge trade. Online curriculum, take-home practical, proctored final.
Train-the-trainer track for CSCT-certified techs with field experience. Eligible to instruct CSCT cohorts and run regional sessions.

You're already a service tech. CSCT teaches you the part of the trade no one else does.
You know chemistry — but cold-water kinetics are different and CYA is poison to plunges. CSCT teaches you what transfers and what doesn't, plus chiller diagnostics that pool work doesn't cover.
You know chillers. CSCT closes the gap on water chemistry, biofilm, sanitization, and the recordkeeping commercial customers need. EPA 608 + CSCT is the dream profile for the Cold Standard network.
Cold plunge service is a fast-growing niche with no incumbent training pathway. CSCT is the credential that puts you on the manufacturer-referral list before competition shows up in your market.
The credential the brands you service want their techs to hold.
Cold Standard's preferred service partner since 2026. Ora Wellness's warranty service network trains as a private CSCT cohort with co-developed brand-specific content. Customers referred through Ora's service channel are routed to certified techs.
Train your warranty service network. Co-branded certificates, custom Module 4 content, joint announcement, priority dispatch for your customers. $750/seat at 10+ seats. First-mover advantage closes fast — talk to us.
Cold Standard is San Diego's first dedicated cold plunge service company. We service residential and commercial plunges across SD County — from in-home installs to commercial gyms, recovery clinics, and wellness studios. We hold EPA 608 (refrigerant) and CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certifications. We built the operational stack we wish existed when we started.
CSCT is the codification of that stack. The same compliance documentation, chemistry protocols, photo standards, and customer-communication scripts that run our SD operation become the curriculum that scales the standard nationally.
This is not a paper-mill cert. Pass rate target is 70–85%. The credential has to mean something or it's worthless to manufacturers and worthless to you.
Real questions from techs and facility operators.
No, but you'll want it within the first 6–12 months of certification. CSCT teaches you to diagnose chiller issues, but full repair (anything that opens the refrigerant circuit) requires EPA 608. We make this distinction explicit in Module 3. Many of our most successful certified techs hold both.
Average is 8–12 weeks for a working tech doing the curriculum on evenings and weekends. The curriculum itself is ~30 hours. The proctored final and practical video review add another 2–5 hrs of scheduled time. You can move faster if you have the time, slower if you don't — the LMS is self-paced.
Target pass rate is 70–85% — we don't apologize for the bar, but we also don't try to fail people. You get two free attempts at the written exam and one free reshoot of each practical video. Beyond that, retakes are $99 (written) and $49 per video. If you fail twice, there's a 90-day cooldown to give you time to review weak modules.
Digital certificate + Cold Standard Certified badge for marketing use. Listing on coldstandardservice.com/find-a-tech (opt-in). Access to the certified-tech Discord with peer + instructor support. Eligibility for manufacturer-routed leads in your market. A physical brand kit (truck decal, hat, embroidered patch, wall plaque) shipped to you.
When a manufacturer-partner (Ora Wellness today, more in 2026–2027) sends Cold Standard a service inquiry from outside our SD service area, we route it to the closest CSCT-certified tech in their network. Cold Standard takes 15% of the first invoice (capped at $200); all recurring revenue from that customer is yours. We don't take a cut of customers you find on your own.
$1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate general liability minimum, with Cold Standard listed as additionally insured. Commercial auto if you use a vehicle for service. Workers' comp where state-required. We can recommend insurance providers who specialize in service contractors. Module 7 covers this in detail.
The credential is issued by The Cold Standard, San Diego's first dedicated cold plunge service company and Ora Wellness preferred partner. Recognition is being built through manufacturer requirement programs — Ora Wellness's warranty network is required to hold CSCT, and we're in conversation with several other manufacturers to do the same. CSCT is not (yet) accredited by a third-party body; it's a vendor-neutral, manufacturer-backed industry certification.
Not at the moment. The curriculum builds on itself — Module 5's compliance content references Module 1's anatomy; Module 6's SOPs reference Module 3's chiller diagnostics. Even an experienced HVAC tech will find Module 2 (cold-water chemistry) novel; even an experienced pool tech will find Module 3 (chiller diagnostics) novel. The full curriculum is the credential.
CSCT is for technicians who service plunges. CSFO is for facility operators (gym managers, spa owners, recovery clinic ops) who oversee plunges and need to keep them inspector-ready, but don't perform repair work. CSFO is shorter (~8 hrs vs ~30), cheaper ($495 vs $1,495), and skips the chiller diagnostics deep dive. Many commercial facilities require their ops staff to hold CSFO and contract a CSCT-certified tech for actual service.
Email partners@coldstandardservice.com. We offer manufacturer cohorts at $750/seat (10+ seats) or $650/seat (25+) with co-branded certificates, custom Module 4 content for your brand, joint launch announcement, and priority dispatch of your customers' service requests to your certified network. Ora Wellness was our first; we're actively talking to several more brands.
